Around the age of four, my well-meaning but short-sighted parents plucked a classic novel from my chubby hands and placed me atop a horse. For the next 20 years, my athletic pursuits revolved around sitting on that horse and trying to make it look as effortless as possible. Over the years, I became significantly less chubby, increasingly well read, and all that effortless horse-sitting earned me a spot on the Baylor Equestrian team.
In preparation for Division I Athletics, I spent a whole lot of time in the weight room, where I first fell in love with moving heavy weight around. My post collegiate life brought me to Portland and while completing post-baccalaureate courses at PSU, I took up rugby. Two broken noses and a concussion later, I decided it was time to stop using my body as a hammer and take all my aggression elsewhere.
During the Snowpocalypse of 2016, I wandered my way into a closed CrossFit Magnus, happened to interrupt a solo training session of Nick’s, and left five minutes later having signed up for an Unlimited membership on the spot. Important thing to know about me: it’s full steam ahead or not at all.
In the almost two years since, I’ve given my life a bit of an overhaul: I left a job as an EMT, obtained a personal training certification, and have been working full-time in the fitness industry. I’ve also spent countless hours in the gym, working to learn how to control my limbs and move heavy fucking weight as fast as fucking possible.
I’m excited to keep working alongside the members I’ve come to know over the past few years towards that same goal… and annoying the shit out of Quint!
