Whitney "Tatty" Griffin
Whitney “Tatty” Griffin started with CrossFit Magnus as a sponsored athlete in 2012. Tatty played roller derby at an elite level for eight years and was a member of the 2015 WFTDA International Champion Portland roller derby team, the Wheels of Justice. Her interests in proper movement lead her to begin shadowing Quint for a year while she was still working in the beauty industry. Tatty has been on the Magnus coaching staff since her career change in 2014 and is now the gym operations manager. You’ve got her to thank for anything in the gym that’s organized and/or labeled — and her wrath to face if you don’t put your dumbbells back in the proper place!
Tatty struggled with weight loss/gain over the course of her first 25 years. In 2010, she made the most important change in her life yet: she cleaned up her diet and was consistent in following a meal plan. Over the next year, she was able to lose 50lbs which left her thinner, but not stronger. That’s when she found CrossFit Magnus and weight training. Since retiring from roller derby, Tatty has found a new place for her competitive nature which is competing in local CrossFit team events. You can bet she will continue to push herself as an athlete as well as a teammate.
Tatty loves working out, coffee, and animals. End of list.
